Oud that glitters like gold
Oud is so precious that it is often worth more than its weight in gold. This tree which grows in India and South-East Asia, produces a resin with an animalistic, earthy, balsamic and leathery scent. It is cherished as a treasure in the Middle East, where it is burned to infuse the skin with its luxurious smoke. Perfumer Amandine Marie imagined this variation on agarwood – another name given to oud wood – to produce a dizzying cascade of sensual and enveloping ingredients.
A heritage of opulence
To express the essence of oud on the skin and to unleash its full power of seduction, Amandine Marie chose to combine it with white flowers. A luminous heart of tuberose and jasmine melts into the wood to enhance its power. “I wanted this fragrance to be at one with nature,” she says. “These flowers are known for their heady power and make it possible to transpose oud into an unexpected floral realm.” From the first few seconds, we find the lively, sparkling freshness of bergamot heightened by pink peppercorn. Rising swirls of incense announce the arrival of the oud and floral blend. Jasmine and addictive tuberose compose a magnetic bouquet. The oud then takes over, accompanied by a touch of patchouli, creamy sandalwood and ambery vetiver. Its opulent trail entices lovers of sophisticated fragrances.
